Above is map of the new permitted bridleway between East and West Roeburndale.
Its not often you come across new permitted bridleway which could be useful improving a cycle ride but the new permitted bridleway between West and East Roeburndale could add extra twist to a ride, if you include it as part of ride over Salter Fell Road. The bridleway is well signposted on both sides of the valley but not that well signposted between Outhwaite Wood and the ford across River Roeburn, I must admit that did not try cross the ford and use the footbridge a little bit further down to cross over the River Roeburn and push my bike along public footpath to re join bridleway on the other side which was case of following signposts for the Lunesdale Walk until you meet up with the bridleway again and then case of following bridleway which well made farm track through Middlewood Study Centre and Backs Bottom Farm up to tarmac on Moor Lane. The bridleway on the east side may get wet in few places after a bit of rain.
The best time of the year to do this bridleway is in spring when the bluebells are in flower in Outhwaite Wood and the Orchards are in flower in the valley bottom or in Autumn to see the Autumn Colour.
On the ride last Sunday, I did ride from West side of Roeburndale to the East side of the valley, you can see photos of the ride at this link.
