Bridleway diversion for bridleways 534016 and 534022 at Kentmere Park, Hugill

Its worth looking at the pdf file but I think there nothing to worry about and the diversion may improve the bridleway.

Dreaming of future Autumn Meet Venues

Our Chairman and our General Secretary have been thinking about future Autumn Meet venues and having been looking at the 2008 Independent Hostels Guide for ideals, this due to YHA increasingly more expensive (£21 Bed and Breakfast in dorm!) and not that interested in our requirements.

So our Chairman has come up list of possibilites which might make suitable venues for future Autumn Meets these are:

  1. Ridgeway Barn, Wiltshire near Wantage.
  2. Spring Hill, Oswestry near Berwyns.
  3. West End Outdoor Centre near Harrogate.
  4. Rickyards Barn near Monmouth.
  5. Birchover near Matlock.
  6. Bala Bunkhouse.
  7. Homestead near Bamford, Northern Peak.

So where do you want to go to for Autumn Meet Weekend 2009?

Can you help on the RSF stand at York Rally

As you are aware Lynne & Geoff have just taken on the role of Public Relations and Advertising Officers and are presently trying to get to grips with everything involved, so just hold your breath.

One of their main tasks is arranging the annual stand at York Rally. The space at the Rally has been booked for this year, but unfortunately they unable to go them selves. Also Peter Kenner who currently has the display boards, photos, posters etc is not sure if he will able to go. So they are therefore looking for volunteers from members to help with the following:

  1. Transport the display boards etc to the Rally (last year a new collapsible, light-weight stand was purchased)
  2. Set up the stand (this can be done either Friday after 4.30pm or early on Saturday).
  3. Man the stand during the Rally (this need only be part of the weekend).
  4. Dismantle the display at end of the rally on the Sunday evening.
  5. Transport the display away

If you can help with any of the above contact Lynne and Geoff on 01539-737797

Membership, Changes to the RSF committee and researching the site

On 31st March membership of the Rough-Stuff Fellowship stood at 561 members which is bit of improvement from the start of the year and also nice to see that 17 new members have join so far this year.

Also noticed from the site stats that someone been using www.keywordspy.com to research what words we use on the site, I wonder why? Its worth having look at www.keywordspy.com just have play on the search engine and type in your favourite  website and see the top ten words use on the site.

I have not had time to update the About the RSF Section of the site with the changes to the RSF Committee after the AGM at Easter. So here they are: John Kemp is the New Membership Secretary, Geoff and Lynne Rowbotham are the Public Relations and Advertising Officers and Calum Mc Roberts has taken over from John Bedwell has the Journal Distribution Officer.

In finishing did you know every time the Rough-Stuff Fellowship get a local group going membership of the RSF increase by 30 to 40 members.

Possible new group for Welsh Borders and Shropshire

Robin Walker who lives in Telford, has agreed to organize couple rides with aim of getting a Shropshire & Welsh Borders Group going, once dates have been finalize I will post them up on this blog and also will be  advertise in the Rough-Stuff Journal and on the Rough-Stuff Fellowship National Website.

Modification Order to part of right way Bridleway 206008 in Bassenthwaite Parish

I just received e-mail via Mat Hodges from Victoria Senior, Countryside Administrator South, Lake District National Park Authority, concerning the downgrading of part of bridleway 206008 in Bassenthwaite Parish in Cumbria down to footpath. The part of the bridleway which will be downgrade to footpath will be from map ref NY 23503230 to map ref NY 24523277, for more information read pdf file below, if you wish to object to the order this must made in writing to Lake District National Park Authority no later than 2 June 2008.

The Rough-Stuff Fellowship will not be objecting to this as there is alternative Bridleway route via BW206009 & BW206015 which is about 200 metres longer and it reduces potential conflict between walkers, cyclists and horse riders
