The Lake District National Park have received an application for the temporary closure of Bridleway 514018 at Row Road because of works to be carried out near to the path.
In 2006 a limekiln, adjacent to the bridleway, collapsed. The structure was stabilised but is in a poor state of repair. Following negotiations with Natural England, the landowner is now in a position to restore the limekiln but the works will affect access to the bridleway.
So the National Park are proposing to make a closure order for 6 months, from 1st May for the section of bridleway from SD 45148958 to SD 45108953 The bridleway will only be closed when necessary within this period -hopefully only two to three week.
There is alternative route for cyclists using Back Lane and public road U5600 to avoid the closure.
