Got an idea that will help boost cycling in the District?

If so we want to hear from you. Once again we are offering grants to local groups who can prove that they can make a difference to cycling in the district.

Last year we awarded funding to a number of groups including local schools, Network Wheels, 2 Girl Guide groups and Bicycology.

The Cycling Demonstration Town (CDT) project seeks to encourage as much community involvement as possible – to help us achieve our aim of doubling cycling levels within the district by 2008.

We are now looking to fund a range of small locally based cycling projects to start in April 2007.

These might include projects that seek to:

  • Publicise or promote the take up of cycling
  • Increase skills and training
  • Organise rides or one-off cycling events
  • Increase cycle commuting (to work or to school)
  • Provide equipment
  • Increase access to cycling

Bids for grants (up to a maximum of £1,500) are open to all groups within the Lancaster district. The deadline for this bidding round is Friday March 23rd.
