The Denny Beck Bridge on the cycle path along the River Lune at Halton, east of Lancaster is due to be replaced with a new bridge. The bridge works are due to start on 4th January 2011 and take about 3 months. An alternative route will be provided for cyclists and pedestrians using the footbridge to the north, though cyclists may have dismount to use the footbridge. Work as already started on creating the alternative route.
The scheme is being funded by Lancaster City Council, who own the bridge.
