We cycled out toTwin Lakes Cafe at Croston on 30th December for our usual leg stretch there and have found out it is closing permanently in January.
The company who own the site are Ruttle Plant Hire and they have decided it isn’t profitable enough to keep it going. Seems strange as every time we go in it is busy and they always welcoming to cyclists and the food was good! I know a lot of RSF folk used it – we often bump into them there – as well as lots of other cyclists – so could you mention it in the weekly newsletter – to save some folk possibly having a long ride with no brew at the end!
All the animals and birds there have been either given to Pet Shops or, in the case of the hens, found new homes. Apparently the fishery lakes have been leased out to someone but there is no news on the cafe’s future I’m afraid. I am not aware of another cafe in Croston – there used to be one on the main street but it is now an Indian Restaurant. The nearest we know of are the two on the canal side at Rufford and the Delph Dive Centre near Eccleston.
