The something mad ride

I hate mention this to South Lakes Group members its the Group’s runs meeting is this Saturday 23rd March starting at 7.30 pm at 8 Beech, Halton, I am hoping brake a record by getting more than three members at the meeting, so come along have your say where the South Lakes Group is going in June, July and August (and maybe September). One ideal which was discuss on a ride was do something mad like we did on last year’s ride over Harter Fell in May.

My ideal for the something mad ride is to start from Staveley go up the Kentmere Valley, then up Garburn Pass, at the top of pass push the bikes along the footpath which follows the ridge up on to High Street where its joins the Old Roman Road which is bridleway, then follow the bridleway down to Askham, then up the Lowther Valley to Bampton where we would head up Mardale and then head over Gatescarth Pass into Longsleddale and then head back to Staveley via Sadgill and Stile End Pass. What do you think of this mad ideal, it would mean early start from Staveley and would have to be around the longest day of the year in June.
